A good walking holiday is all about you putting your feet up.
At least that’s the way we see it.
At Walking Breaks, we believe that a successful, relaxing break starts with your peace of mind.
We think you’ll enjoy our region’s wonderful feeling of space and breath-taking scenery all the more if have no worries about the smooth operation of your holiday.
At our base under huge Suffolk skies, we’ve been listening and learning from our walking and cycling break customers since 1991. Over this time we have refined and added to our tours portfolio, but never lost our very personal touch. Our sister company, Cycle Breaks, also now not only operates tours in the UK, but also in Europe.
Our customer s share their experiences with us and many come back to book with us again.
In this internet age, we appreciate that choice is at your fingertips. Again and again though, we see proof that our high level of service, valuable local knowledge and attention to detail is very much appreciated and considered good value for money.
HOW OUR HOLIDAYS WORK
Transporting luggage from place to place
Travel light with just the bare essentials – camera, book, binoculars, picnic etc. In the morning , we pick up your bags and ensure they are waiting for you by late afternoon at your next night’s stop.
Characterful accommodation that’s comfortable and well chosen
Admittedly , when it comes to putting feet up, roaring log fires and cosy armchairs might be a priority for some. We can’t make any promises there, but we do select all the accommodation for our walking breaks personally and to the highest standards.
Freedom & flexibility
With only a couple of exceptions, you can start your break on any day of the week and are welcome to add extra nights to the beginning or end of your stay, or along the way, if available.
Graded itineraries, maps, guides and detailed route notes
We’re enthusiastic walkers ourselves, so we don’t underestimate the role of a comfortable, well-planned, meticulous itinerary through inspiring scenery. The pace of your break and the distances you cover are up to you, so you can be as active or relaxed as you wish, visit the sights you want to see and enjoy every minute of your holiday.
All our tours are graded as some routes offer more challenges than others. Most routes feature a range of detours and all our tour descriptions detail minimum and maximum mileages. (Some longer trips may offer rest days.)
Grades 1-3 are suitable for the moderately fit. If you are planning to take the longer route options, it is advisable to be reasonably fit.
Short day walks. Generally flat terrain. May include some small hills.
Slightly longer walks. May include gently rolling hills or stretches of beach.
Moderately long walks. May include some hills or stretches of beach.
Longer walks with frequent ascents or descents
There’s nothing we enjoy more than getting out there to climb a few stiles and tread a few footpaths. In fact we pride ourselves on our local knowledge and attention to detail. Far from introducing you to run-of- the- mill experiences, we aim to share valuable local tips which enable you to relax into what the area really has to offer and allow you simply to go with the flow.
At every stage of your enquiry and booking, you can speak with one of our knowledgeable team personally. We’re at the end of a phone too, should you need us during your stay.
We take care of everything from places to stay to taxi transfers, from moving your luggage along to your next hotel, to preparing a personalized itinerary, tailored especially to your party.
We value your peace of mind, so we’ve also ensured that your holiday payment is safe with us, through our secure online payment system and protection secured through our IPP insurance cover.
